Clinton County Area Guide
Located in the heart of Pennsylvania, Clinton County is approximately 908 square miles with a population of just over 35,000 residents. The county is included in the Lock Haven Micropolitan Statistical Area and is named after the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton. The county was officially established on June 21, 1839 and is made up of land from both Centre and Lycoming Counties. The county seat for Clinton is at Lock Haven.
Over half of the land in Clinton County consists of beautiful state forestlands, and the northern part of the county is incredibly rugged with vast second growth forests. The southern part of the county is filled with ridges, valleys, and lush farmlands, and the Susquehanna River flows through the county as well.
