What is Staging?

Home staging has come to the forefront in the past decade as a great tool to assist in your home sale.  It doesn’t need to be costly, but can add thousands to the value of your home.  Some simple steps any homeowâner can take include:

#1 - Clean.  Make it sparkle!  Enlist family and friends for a cleaning party and do a top-to-bottom job (don’t forget the windows).

#2 – Fix It.  Have a dripping faucet or a cracked tile?  These will send the wrong message to potential buyers.  Getting them fixed before you put your house on the market is a smart idea.

#3 - Eliminate Clutter.  The "50% Rule" requires that you eliminate the clutter in your home by at least half.  This may be the hardest rule of all! Clutter makes homes seem smaller and disorganized.  Start packing – you’re moving anyway, right?

#4 - Neutral.  Neutral colors sell. It's a fact. Potential buyers walking through your home want to imagine themselves as the owners.  If you use styles or colors they would never select, you've just turned them off.
